Halloween Jaunt
Instead of trick-or-treating my fee and I ran around the neighborhoods checking out all the decorations and children in costume. It was a pleasant easy run that helped take our minds off of this weekend’s big race.

Race Week Intervals
Wow, talk about a long break from posting. NYC Marathon is only a few days away and I must admit that I am pretty amped about race weekend. The weather is looking to be pretty good (but not ideal) with temps predicted to be 41/57 and some clouds. Not sure on the wind condition yet. The cool weather will be a nice break from the indian summer we’re having currently (78* and sunny) though I shouldn’t really complain because I don’t have to worry about losing fluids as much as I did a few months ago when I go for a run. Today was a simple interval workout from Jack Daniels. After riding my bike to the park, I did 3×1200m (400m jog recovery - 2′) in 4:02-4:04 and rode home to get ready for birthday celebrations (today is my 24th birthday). The efforts felt surprisingly good and look to keep it nice and light the next few days. It’s almost November!

Evening run before yoga
Just a relaxing run around campus before teaching class. Surprised at the pace given the effort (144 bpm for 7:30/mile).

Last “long run” before NYC Marathon
Following the recommended JD marathon taper this week, hopefully it will keep me in good stead. I guess I should have checked back over my previous training logs to see what I did and compare. That will have to wait until the post-race report. A nice steady long run a week out from the big day. Cruised to the trail and tried to stay between 6:50-7:00. AHR was about where I had expected. Though I do plan on wearing my HRM when I race, I estimate it will be about 180-188 for much of the race. Let’s rock.
